5-day training activity of the So-VET Project has been organized in Larissa, Greece between dates 19-23 February, 2018 with the participation of trainers from Turkey, Macedonia, UK, Greece, Italy and Sweden.
Main aim of the training was informing the participants about the training program developed for training the potential social entrepreneurs effectively in their home country. In this context each project partner presented the training module that they have developed for the e-learning platform. Training topics: Introduction to Social Enterprise, How to Start a Social Enterprise, Legal Framework, Creating Business Model for Social Enterprises, Marketing, Fundraising, Business Management, Business Finance & Economics and Business Plan.
Official project partner MAKRO has given trainings on Creating Business Model for Social Enterprises module in the second day of the training. Presentation was designed over social enterprise concept, business model and using the Business Model Canvas* for social enterprise design over 9 building blocks.
The training was continued interactively with the group works after this short brief. Real-life examples were given like; Used Textbooks for Social Change, Social Supermarket and Cooking for a Social Cause. Than the trainers were split into groups of 4 or 5 people and each group selected a topic and then created their own business model canvas. They were expected to understand the key elements of a business model and transfer this knowledge to the potential social entrepreneurs with the help of this workshop.
These training modules consisted the fundamental element of an e-learning platform developed within the project, where the young NEETs will be able to attend the pilot online courses and receive training from a distance. The trainers evaluated both the presentations and the e-learning platform during the training. General evaluations on the platform were very positive that trainers indicated it is very user friendly and well-structured with efficient content. The platform is expected to provide open on-line courses and also include an e-library with important and relevant resources as the next step of the project.

* Business Model Canvas is a strategic management and lean startup template for developing new or documenting existing business models. It is a visual chart with elements describing a firm’s or product’s value proposition, infrastructure, customers, and finances. The canvas is a dynamic model to be updated frequently while the business grows so that it helps to manage the elements in a more efficient way.
